If you’re an at-risk individual and you get COVID, you need to have a plan in place. We’re all used to working with monoclonal antibodies for COVID-19 treatment. At this time, they are no longer authorized and no longer available for treatment. If you’re an at-risk person and get COVID-19, the drug to go to first is Paxlovid. Paxlovid is well tolerated, and it’s taken twice daily for a total of five days.
It can cause an unusual metallic taste that goes away. However, Paxlovid really does have a significant risk reduction for those who have conditions, regardless of their vaccination status. Paxlovid does have many drug interactions and many of those drug interactions are quite manageable.
