Which booster should you get? Officially speaking, Pfizer is not recommended over Moderna and vice versa. Oftentimes, Dr. Gastaldo will hear about someone having a strong reaction or fever with one vaccine or the other. That is a normal immune response.
However, Moderna is a 50 microgram dose. He gives unofficial guidance that if someone has a strong reaction with Moderna, they could get the lower dose with the Pfizer vaccine. Pfizer is 30 micrograms. “Anecdotally, I’ve had people telling me that they do have less reactogenicity with a lower dose Pfizer compared to the Moderna,” says Dr. Gastaldo.
