Kate in her red coat

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has stepped out in Anglesey, Wales, today – with her husband Prince William.

It’s the couple’s first state visit since the death of Queen Elizabeth II – which means the royal family’s mourning period has come to an end.

For the occasion, Kate wore a black top and trousers and a £599 LK Bennet red coat with gold buttons – pairing it with a black handbag.

It’s thought perhaps the flash of red could be a subtle nod to the Welsh red dragon.

The Prince and Princess of Wales arrive for a visit to the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station, in Holyhead, Wales, where they are meeting crew, volunteers and some of those who have been supported by their local unit. Holyhead is one of the three oldest lifeboat stations on the Welsh coast and has a remarkable history of bravery, having received 70 awards for gallantry. Picture date: Tuesday September 27, 2022. The royal couple are set to travel the length of Wales, starting their visit in Holyhead in Anglesey.

William and Kate will visit the local RNLI Lifeboat Station in Holyhead, where they will meet the crew, volunteers and some of those who have previously been rescued by the team.

After, they will then walk to the Holyhead Marine and Café Bar – where they will meet and greet small busines owners and organisations such as the coastguard and sea cadets.

Of course, it’s clear William and Kate have a close connection to Wales – having rented a four-bedroom farmhouse on the Isle of Anglesey between 2010 and 2013.

It’s a fabulous coat (Picture: PA)

It goes without saying that the Princess of Wales has long been a fan of red coats. She even previously wore the colour on her last trip to Wales, where she sported a poppy-red coat dress from Eponine.

Some other standout pieces in her collection include a bright red Catherine Walker coat and an orange-hued one from & Other Stories.

One thing is certain, that a classic long-line coat is a staple for Kate.
